冷 is “cold” in Chinese, Japanese Kanji, and old Korean Hanja.
This can also mean cool, chilled, and unheated.
In Chinese, this can be the surname, Leng.
In Japanese, it can be the given/surname Rei.
冷 is an unusual title for a wall scroll but it's OK if “cold” has a special meaning to you, or your name is Leng or Rei.
Surname
丁 is the Mandarin Chinese surname Ding.
In Japanese, 丁 can be surnames that romanize as Chō or Chou. It can also be more unusual Japanese surnames Rei, Yoroi, Yoboro, Youro, Momoki, Hinoto, Tei, Chiyon, Choudei, Chiyun, or Jiyon.
丁 can refer to nails or pieces of something. It is also a counter for long thin objects like scissors, spades, hoes, inksticks, palanquins, candles, etc.
幸 can mean happiness, good fortune, good luck, and in the old days, good harvest or bounty.
Note: From Japanese, this character is sometimes romanized as “sachi,” and is often pronounced “kou” or sometimes “rei” when used in compound words with other Kanji.
光 is the simplest way to express “light” in Chinese, Japanese Kanji, and old Korean Hanja.
It can also mean ray or bright. Chinese tend to use a two-character word for light/bright, so this character is probably best if your audience is Japanese. Also, when pronounced Rei, this can be a Japanese female given name.
In the Zen Buddhist context, this is the pure light that everyone possesses at their origin.
霊 means soul or spirit.
Sometimes 霊 can be a departed soul or ghost. 霊 is actually a Japanese variant of the Chinese character 靈 (and would be recognized in Chinese).
I titled this as Rai because 霊 was romanized as Rai and represented a fictional superhero that appeared in books published by Valiant Comics.
In Japanese, this can be the given name Rei or Tama. It can also be the Japanese surname Mitama or Tamazaki.
Politeness, Gratitude and Propriety
礼 is one of the five tenets of Confucius.
Beyond respect, 礼 can also be translated as propriety, good manners, politeness, rite, worship, or an expression of gratitude.
We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy. We treat others with dignity and honor the rules of our family, school, and nation. Respect yourself, and others will respect you.
Please note that Japanese use this simplified 礼 version of the original 禮 character for respect. 礼 also happens to be the same simplification used in mainland China. While 禮 is the traditional and original version, 礼 has been used as a shorthand version for many centuries. Click on the big 禮 character to the right if you want the Traditional Chinese and older Japanese versions.

Also a female given name Rei or given name “Takeshi” or “Takashi” in Japanese.

All of our calligraphy wall scrolls are handmade.
When the calligrapher finishes creating your artwork, it is taken to my art mounting workshop in Beijing where a wall scroll is made by hand from a combination of silk, rice paper, and wood.
After we create your wall scroll, it takes at least two weeks for air mail delivery from Beijing to you.
Allow a few weeks for delivery. Rush service speeds it up by a week or two for $10!
When you select your calligraphy, you'll be taken to another page where you can choose various custom options.
The wall scroll that Sandy is holding in this picture is a "large size"
single-character wall scroll.
We also offer custom wall scrolls in small, medium, and an even-larger jumbo size.
Professional calligraphers are getting to be hard to find these days.
Instead of drawing characters by hand, the new generation in China merely type roman letters into their computer keyboards and pick the character that they want from a list that pops up.
There is some fear that true Chinese calligraphy may become a lost art in the coming years. Many art institutes in China are now promoting calligraphy programs in hopes of keeping this unique form
of art alive.
Even with the teachings of a top-ranked calligrapher in China, my calligraphy will never be good enough to sell. I will leave that to the experts.
The same calligrapher who gave me those lessons also attracted a crowd of thousands and a TV crew as he created characters over 6-feet high. He happens to be ranked as one of the top 100 calligraphers in all of China. He is also one of very few that would actually attempt such a feat.
